Chicco is a 60 year old Italian brand that was looking for cosmetics manufacturers to support its business plans for India in 2012. After visits to many manufacturing facilities they found that Clarion met all their criteria for a partner and one to whom they could entrust their dream of establishing their presence in the country. Clarion passed the rigorous validation program, that included testing for formulation stability, preservative efficacy, product integrity among other requirements.
Clarion got it right from the start with the first bulk size of 300 kg. Starting with one product Chicco slowly expanded its range with Clarion to shampoo, body lotion, nappy cream, massage oil, bath foam and cleanser for baby care. Leveraging Clarion’s supply chain capability, the company sourced raw material from within India equivalent to the imported ones without compromising on the client’s defined standards. The efforts taken to enable local sourcing was appreciated and the client’s R&D team approved the Indian suppliers.

YLG, a startup company ready to offer customised innovative beauty services for the contemporary woman, chose Clarion’s Product Development Centre, to create product solutions. Working with their Research Scientists, Clarion developed a 3-1 product - Hair Retarder, Skin Brightener and Skin Nourisher in one product for post hair-waxing use. This process entailed a series of rigorous prototyping and evaluations to meet the delivery medium while keeping in mind the consumer’s preferences. In a span of 7 months the products were ready for commercial use. Clarion extended expert technical support for this project by way of standardising processes, clinical studies and product certification, collating intel from suppliers to handle sensitive raw materials, product dossier documentation and upscaling operations right up to support in finalizing package design.
5 different product applications, i.e Underarm Roll-On, Ingrown Hair Cream, Face Mist, Body Lotion and Serum, were also jointly developed. These were launched across 60 outlets across India under the brand name of YLG.
This exemplary work led to sustained volume growth. The resulting production of roll-on was more than double the volume expected.

Dr. Sankunnis Ayurvedic Research Foundation, approached Clarion to develop a suitable base for Zen Pain Balm for the US market. Zen Pain Balm promises an all-natural, plant based pain relief. Clarion was required to create a base that would make the cream ideal for application without losing out on or altering the properties of the15 essential oils and botanicals it contained.
Using ingredients approved by Indian Pharmacopeia, Clarion ensured this and also fine-tuned the product to meet the sensory requirements of consumers. Clarion also secured the stringent FDA approval for Zen Pain Balm in the United States! Overcoming operational challenges of packaging the pain balm in glass jam, Clarion completed the project to the satisfaction of the customer.
